Technology Development Engineer/Physicist

We are looking for a motivated, hands-on Physicist or Engineer to help us to develop our resonant acoustic micropump technology, Disc Pump™. Working as part of our R&D team you will develop the next-generation pump designs which underpin our product roadmap, contributing to TTP Ventus’ long-term growth and success.

The Role

You will:

  • contribute to and lead concept generation and evaluation
  • prototype, test, and optimise new pumps
  • devise experiments which enable and validate thorough theoretical understanding
  • support new products all the way from concept to production at our on-site production facility
Qualifications and Training
  • A 1st or 2.1 degree in physics, engineering or similar discipline.
Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Strong experimental problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of physical principles and their application to practical systems
  • Curiosity, imagination, and creativity
  • Good verbal communication and reporting skills
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and motivated

Desirable:

  • Experience working in acoustics or fluidics
  • Hands-on experience of micron- to mm-scale devices
  • Programming of off-the-shelf hardware to automate testing and/or data collection
  • Computational modelling (e.g. Comsol)
  • CAD skills (e.g. SolidWorks)

We are looking for a Test Technician to join our growing Engineering team, either part-time (a minimum of 20 hrs/wk) or full-time. You will support the development of new products by scheduling and running pump performance and lifetime testing, as well as carrying out other technical work such as building test fixtures or performing diagnostic tests. You will be part of a well-backed, rapidly growing company created to commercialise Disc Pump, a revolutionary, award-winning micropump technology.

The Role

We have a strong product pipeline, with plans to launch multiple new products per year as well as continuously improving our existing ones. Testing pumps is essential to guaranteeing quality, as well as providing the data needed to develop new designs. As Test Technician you will be an important member of our Engineering team, with responsibility for scheduling, running, and documenting performance and lifetime testing. Your role will also include other technical lab work, supporting our wider R&D and Engineering activities, such as building test fixtures and carrying out diagnostic work. We are looking for someone who can work both independently and as part of a team, has keen attention to detail, and is enthusiastic about working within a rapidly growing business on a disruptive new technology.

Skills and Experience

Your skills will include:

  • Experience in technical test, manufacturing, or technician work
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • Experience of documenting and reporting results
  • Thoroughness, with a keen attention to detail
  • Good manual dexterity

The following would be beneficial:

  • Experience working with pumps or other fluidic components
  • Knowledge of flow and/or pressure measurement
  • Experience operating test equipment
  • Experience building test fixtures
